Youth Apprenticeships: Hands-On Manufacturing Opportunities
Excellerate is proud to be a Youth Apprenticeship (YA) employer. A youth apprentice is a high school aged student, usually a junior or senior, who is interested in pursuing a vocational career. There are many benefits to a YA program for students and employers alike.
Benefits for Students
- Participate in and learn from the interview process (some for the first time)
- Paid on-the-job work training and experience
- Earn money while receiving high school credits
Benefits for Excellerate
- Prepares the next generation of workers
- Allows leaders an opportunity to mentor and provide feedback
Excellerate’s YA program gives students the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment during the school year, giving them a leg-up on their peers upon graduation.
Our youth apprentices work right on a production floor where they have the unique opportunity to not only learn Lean processes and quality standards, but also help their team meet company goals.
It all starts with safety, however. Youth apprentices, just like all our employees, spend their first day going through our thorough safety orientation where they are provided personal protective equipment (PPE). They learn the value of keeping safety front and center in everything they do, and how important it is to look out for one another.
Excellerate is excited to recruit the next round of youth apprentices. If you or someone you know is interested, please get started by talking to your school counselor, who can put you in touch with one of our YA coordinators. Once accepted into the program, students are eligible to begin learning, apply and interview for future positions within the company.
It’s a great way to start a great career!
